My First Writers Apprehension
Almost a block!
I just had my first stagnation when trying to write.
I found myself second guessing a story that I had intended to share today.
I write humor, fiction, programming and stories that just flat out tickle my fancy. Which one are they expecting? Will they be disappointed it’s not like the story that made them decide to follow me?
I always have about 20 drafts with just the titles and maybe a note or two for the day the mood strikes me. None of these seemed appropriate today.
This apprehension hung with me almost the entire day.
- I closed the computer and went for an hour walk.
- I made a leftover lunch and watched TV for the duration of lunch.
- I read through my drafts.
Only the walking seemed to slightly reset me for writing today. Lunch worked the opposite way. In fact, I was a little sleepy after if truth be told. TV only made me feel guilty and reading through my drafts brought me back to the same level of apprehension as before.
- I started clicking on people that have followed me and started randomly reading through the (your) stories. There are some really interesting people that have told some very private stories. I found some short fiction…
