I’m pretty sure that the main publications you see across the Medium home page are theirs. I created 3 publications and have not heard a word from Medium once. If you are in curation jail, apparently their algorithms will process your story as not to be curated without human eyes seeing it. According to multiple sources that I have read here on Medium.
