Did you know there were more OZ books
All my life I’ve asked my friends if they knew there were more Oz books than just the “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz”. The books had been read to me as a child and adorned every bookcase I ever had. I knew that if/when I had kids, I would read these same books to them. I never had kids, but I still have the books.
My family moved quite a bit while I was growing up, so I always had new friends to ask the question. Nobody I asked ever knew there were more books. 15 by the original author L. Frank Baum to be exact. I only knew 14. The “Stories of Oz” I discovered when researching the Oz books for this article.
A funny thing happened. The internet age began and information that would have required effort to discover, became available with no effort at all. When I asked the question now, people began to answer that they did know about the other books.

It will be 100 years on May 6 since we lost him, but I can honestly say his books were one of the greatest influences on my life as a child. It taught me honesty, kindness all while not suppressing everyday life. There is death. There is punishment. There is love.
